Actually my joke was the fact that I ended the sentence with a preposition.

My sense of humor is so subtle it sometimes borders on imperceptible.

I think he's referencing the ancient Mastercard joke in the strip.

Yeah, I missed grammar joke, but I was referring to the Mastercard "priceless" reference in the comic strip which according to Wikipedia, is a ten year old ad campaign.
