Left to right
Three silent penultimate panels today. Well, two are really time-passing panels and one is a vacation reprint, but I'm counting them all today.

Because we read from left to right it can sometimes be difficult for a cartoonist to get the character blocked on the right side of the scene to say something first. There are a few solutions.
Put the word balloon above the other character's.
Swing the camera around between panels to show the characters from the rear.
Or simply have them magically trade places.
Only of these solutions is lazy.

Actually, that final one appears to do the "swing the camera around" affect, too. Assuming there's a row of bookcases on the black-haired lady's side, it simply took the other direction.
If so, the characters also turned around in place to still be facing the camera. Actually, if you look closely you'll see not-Lila's purse switch from her left shoulder to her right shoulder. It looks like the artist did a photoshop reverse of the image.
here are two from thursday...

I vote with Matt on the photoshop flop -- note how perfectly symmetrical the bookcases are. How lazy do you have to get to be unwilling to draw a new set of books?
