Mutts

Sorry folks, I don't have much time tonight so I have to be more succinct than normal.
One today:
Mutts by Patrick McDonnel
Josh pointed out one that I missed yesterday:
Piranha Club by Bud Grace

Ugliness Man noticed today's Calvin & Hobbes re-print:

And we have another booger:

That's all for now. See you in the funny papers.

Hello,
Can you explain why you write this blog? Why is it wrong to have a strip with a silent beat? This isn't rhetorical - I wonder what you don't like. I found your blog looking for references to a new LA Times panel that sucks! But you reference Robotman- or whatever JM calls it now- which is one of the best strips in the country. His beats rock!
If it matters, I'm a working cartoonist and I've been everywhere, including the Times- but I do a panel.
Yeah, usually an SPP gag needs the silent beat. But it's like any other trick of the trade -- sometimes cartoonists do it because it's habitual and less work than to rewrite to maybe get a better strip.
That said, I think I love for April 8.
That came out funky. I meant to say,
I think I love David Alvarez pulled for April 8. He's postponing a cliffhanger from Friday until Monday.
